About MaxWelds
At 22 years old, my journey in welding began during middle school, sparking a passion for transforming unwanted tools into unique sculptures. Driven by creativity, I find joy in crafting each piece and aim to evoke emotions in those
who encounter my work. Through my journey as a welder and sculptor, I hope to inspire others to pursue
their passions with enthusiasm.
My Design Process
My design process begins with a seed of an idea, which I then refine through research and sketching to understand its form. With a clear vision in mind, I create top, face, and side views of the sculpture to guide my work. Drawing from my collection of old tools and scrap metal, I assemble the pieces like a jigsaw puzzle, with each component serving a specific purpose. It's a meticulous process of manipulation—whether bending metal with heat or cutting parts—to ensure that every piece is unique. I take pride in the intricate details, knowing that observers can engage in a game of "I spy," discovering different elements within the sculpture as they study it. This iterative process of creation allows me to breathe life into each piece, making them truly one of a kind.
Engaging with welding, heating, and manipulating metal demands a unique blend of skill, dedication, and sometimes luck. It's a craft that requires trust in the process and a keen eye for design. Despite the inherent challenges and occasional hazards, the satisfaction it brings is immeasurable. I often find myself completely engrossed in my work, losing track of time as I delve into the creative process, regardless of the hour or weather. There's an undeniable thrill in the transformation of recycled materials into works of art, each piece a testament to my passion and ingenuity. It's more than just a hobby; it's a calling that
drives me to push the boundaries of my craft and create something truly exceptional.
